They have minimal ingredients and probably ingredients that you already have a home so don’t need to spend anymore. They are quick to bake, and you can rest assured that they don’t have any preservatives, grains or fillers. They are completely natural and naturally sugar free.

Here’s a breakdown of why these dog treats are good for your dog and why we love them

Did you know that oats are an excellent source of fibre, B vitamins, and minerals and helps maintain steady blood sugar. This is important if you are trying to manage and maintains your dog’s weight.

Banana acts as a natural sweetener with potassium and vitamin B6. Additionally, bananas are high in fibre, which aids in digestion and can help regulate bowel movements. This can be particularly helpful if your dog struggles with occasional digestive issues. This is the same for oats, they are high in fibre and provide sustained energy for dogs. The carbohydrates in oats release slowly which help to maintain your dog’s blood sugar steady throughout the day.

Oats also contain beta-glucans, a type of soluble fibre that may promote heart health and help lower cholesterol levels in dogs. This can be especially beneficial for older dogs or breeds prone to heart issues.

Keep your dog’s skin and coat healthy. They contain a high content of linoleic acid, this is an omega-6 fatty acid found in oats that contributes to maintaining strong and healthy skin in dogs. This can lead to a shinier coat and reduced skin irritations. Our dogs can sometimes get skin irritations after going to the park so we make sure that we also feed some anti allergy food toppers.

Here’s how we save money on dog treats

  • We like to buy oats in bulk especially when they are on sale. We like to buy from The Source as they are organic and have minimal packaging
  • We keep an eye out for peanut butter specials and like to buy peanut butter that have zero ingredients that only contain peanuts and nothing else. Some of our favourite brands are, Ridiculously Delicious peanut butter, Mayvers, Simply nuts
  • Use overripe bananas that you don’t want to eat but don’t want to throw out
  • Skip fancy cookie cutters - a knife works fine
  • Make smaller treats to get more per batch
  • Freeze half the batch for later use
